KTM opens official UK motocross school
Equipped with the very latest motocross machines from its world-beating SX range, the KTM MX Experience caters for all levels of rider experience – perfect for novices and street riders looking to dip their toes in the mud or existing MX’ers looking to improve skills or break bad habits.
Running at established venues in the Midlands, South and South East with a large choice of available dates within the typical off-road riding season, each school day includes riding equipment and machine hire, so the days can also be treated as a great way of taking a test ride on a brand new KTM.
The format of the day follows a set structure to give ‘students’ maximum riding time with dynamic coaching. Each school day begins at 10.00am with signing on, followed by a short safety briefing and introduction, this is followed by basic off -road riding instruction and then assessment by the experience coaching staff.
Everything from body position, track technique and machine control are covered to get optimum enjoyment from the bike and day, with the instructors continually trackside studying riders to coach them while they are in the saddle.
Priced at £185 per day and truly an unforgettable experience, the course is open to riders from 10-years old with a minimum height restriction of 4’ 8” and no form of race or road licence is required. Riders are also able to try different bikes during the day from the selection of current KTM four and two-stroke machinery available. For 2017 the age restriction has been raised to 15 years and 5’4″ in height.
The school’s head coach is Barry Johnson – a former top British Motocross rider with four national titles to his credit. In the early eighties at the age of 18, Barry became a fully qualified ACU Motocross Coach while still competing in both 125cc and 250cc British and World Championship Motocross events and has been coaching ever since.
Barry said: “The school has been established for 29 years now and the decision to collaborate with KTM was perfect timing for us as the orange bikes are the benchmark in motocross. It isn’t just about race wins, for the pupils the SX bikes are easy to ride with sublime handling and, of course, the electric starter saves them a lot of energy! But from a school perspective, the bikes are strong and easy to maintain. OK, we love riding them as well.”
Whether it is a group looking for an adventurous stag day, a Company looking to motivate their work force or even a group of friends or family looking for an exciting day out, the KTM MX Experience concentrate on giving every rider a truly satisfying day and can also be customised to match particular requirements.
